Different ways of contributing
At Literacy of Northern NY, we appreciate the great work of our volunteers and the participation of our students- the backbone of LNNY. Tutors work with reading or English language learners and some tutor both. Other volunteers help at fund raising events, record children's books for "Read to Succeed," decorate items for the PBS auction, to name just a few of the wonderful things they do for us. If you are unable to commit to tutoring, think about volunteering in another capacity. Call the office at 782-4270 or e-mail us for information.
Sponsor a Student
Make a donation for texts or supplies for a student. Choose the amount, even a gift of just twenty dollars offsets most of the cost of one text.
Donate a Gift Card
A small gift card is a wonderful way to reward students for their hard work. LNNY gives these cards, when available, to students for a job well done or to those who come in for the end-of-year assessment of their literacy skills.
Donate Supplies for Students
Many of our students are low-income and lack the means to buy even pens and notebooks. LNNY gives out supplies to all students in need.
"Adopt a Student"
Become a patron to one of the students at LNNY. This can be an anonymous partnership and you can receive updates on your student's progress. Share in the feeling of accomplishment.
Respond to our Annual Appeal
Literacy of Northern NY sends out an annual appeal letter in November. The funds collected are used to buy texts and other teaching materials for students or books for children. You can designate where you would like your donation to go. If you would like to be placed on the list to receive an annual appeal letter, please contact the office. E-mail or telephone
