Volunteer Recognition

Literacy of Northern New York is fortunate in having many, many, wonderful people who give their time to the program. From time to time, Literacy of NNY would like to introduce these very special people.

Great volunteers at Literacy of NNY

Literacy of Northern NY sadly reports the passing of our dear volunteer, Jeanne Ney, on October 26, 2011.

Jeanne started volunteering shortly after her retirement. She chose to record children's books as part of the "Read to Succeed" program. It was always so heart-warming to have her tell us that is was such an honor for her to record the books. She always left the office with new books to record, thanking us as she left. What a wonderful legacy she left, so many stories for children to listen to and cherish.

Jeanne Ney  "Read to Succeed" volunteer

Jeanne is by far, the most dedicated Read to Succeed" volunteer. To date, she has recorded nearly 100 children's books on tape. Several students who are parents have shared these wonderful stories with their children.
